Why Stephan Jenkins thinks that Mayoral Candidate Mark Leno is the right fit for San Franscisco...
Stephan Jenkins performed an intimate acoustic set at Amoeba Records in San Francisco on March 16th to launch the Summer Gods Tour 2017 live album on vinyl.
Jenkins was introduced by San Francisco Mayoral Candidate Mark Leno.
He shared a story of how Stephan was there to help him when he started a music enrichment program for San Francisco youth.
When Jenkins took the stage he shared a powerful sentiment, that our government needs to change, and San Francisco can be the first step in that change. When taking a closer look at Leno it becomes clear why Jenkins supports him in the special Mayoral race to be held on June 5th, 2018.
Leno has been a public servant since April 1998, first serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and staying until December 2002 when he began his service in the California State Assembly. In 2008, he began service as a California State Senator and remained in office until 2016. Some of the highlights of his public service include introducing legislation to allow tenants to replace a roommate without losing their lease and a measure to promote the federal Earned Income Tax Credit to help low income residents. He also authored AB849, a bill legalizing same-sex marriages that became the first bill of its kind to pass a legislative body in the United states. The bill passed both the Assembly and the State Senate but was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger. In his first two terms in the Assembly, 58 of his bills were signed into law.
As Mayor of San Francisco, he wants to create 50,000 units of affordable housing, establish a Mental Health Justice Center to stop recycling homeless people through the criminal justice system, and defend San Francisco against 45 and his hateful agenda of attacking people of color, women, immigrants and LGBTQ San Franciscans.

Using Mark Leno as an example, it is easy to see that the only way this country is going to fight against 45 is by starting at the local level of politics. You need to get involved and find out what’s going on in your area; What special elections are or midterms are being held? What do your local candidates stand for? Are they going to fight against racism? Do they believe in climate change? Do they support sensible gun legislation? You need to know the answer to these questions and ask these types of questions about the issues that are important to you. In order to make a change, we must be informed and make an informed vote at the polls!
Our country is being run by a Russian puppet and each day your rights are being stripped away, regulations that help the environment are being dismantled, and our education system is being attacked. Please don’t idly sit by and think I’m just one person; what can I do? Please get out and vote in your upcoming elections - and don’t go alone! Take your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. You can create change. You can take back the keys to America.
