Without Each Other We Are Nothing

"And the thing that's killing me is a vision of life how it's supposed to be Without each other we're nothing don't give in"
I never liked the line, “without each other we’re nothing.”
It's not that I don’t like the song, I love the song, but that line sits wrong with me on its own.
I’ll never be nothing, regardless of the presence or absence of another person. I am whole on my own. I’ve been through too much not to be.
So, I had to think about this for a bit.
I really had to sit and dissect the song. “Don’t Give In” is like my anthem. It reminds me that I have to keep going no matter what life throws at me. It’s a hard reminder sometimes, because there are times where it seems so much easier to just give up, but it’s a reminder nonetheless. I had it inked into my side so I wouldn’t forget.
I came to the conclusion after a while that sometimes, even though you’re whole on your own, without the people important to you, you would be an entirely different person. Without the music influence of my dad, I probably would have never discovered Third Eye Blind and developed such an important relationship to their music. Without the influence of my animals, I probably would be studying to become something entirely different than a veterinary professional. Sometimes even people who you grow apart from in the worst ways hold an influence on you. I know without some old friends of mine I would have never found interest in anything artistic, and now art is one of my biggest joys and hobbies.
I think you get the picture, but how does that relate to the band? How does it relate to the song? When I look at Third Eye Blind, not only the band but the crew, too, I see a huge group of friends who came together to make something special. I see a huge group of friends who brought together another huge group of friends. Third Eye Blind fans really band together like family, and really help each other out when they need it. These fans create some great things and great memories.
So that brings me to my drawing. I know that all of the guys are friends, but I see something special in the relationship between Stephan and Brad. They’ve been there since the beginning together. They built something great together. I think there’s something really special about that.
