Forever My Heart Songs

My name is Robyn Santiago. I’m 27 years old and I’m from Upland, California. UPLAND is a city in the Inland Empire about 40 min. east of Los Angeles. I have always been drawn to music. I was in school choirs and auditioned for groups from 7th grade all the way through my first 2 years of college. Having somewhat of a musical background good lyrics always have and always will, move me.

I’m the youngest of 7 siblings, so naturally I played follow the leader when it came to music preferences growing up. My older brother introduced me to Third Eye Blind in the early 2000’s. He was a big fan of Blue when it came out. I look up to him very much and started listening right along side him. I had always been a fan of Semi Charmed Life and Jumper but Blue. Wow. That album is on a whole other level of deep meaning. I started listening to the Blue album and the Self Titled album religiously through high school. It was the only music that could actually make me feel something in the rebellious, fuck the world attitude I was stuck in at that age. I loved it but like most things as a teen, you drop them. I started listening to other music. Really emo stuff if you will: The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and a few others. I was always trying to cry and stuff. I don’t even know. That’s what you do when you’re 16 I guess.

Fast forward to my first year out of high school, I found myself right back where I started - with Third Eye Blind’s Blue album. These had become my heart songs. Even still, I was all about them. By that time Ursa Major was out but I was stubborn and only listened to the 1st and 2nd albums. I was also a huge fan of Non-Dairy Creamer around the same time as well. I dabbled in their newer music, however not until I attended my first 3eb show on the Dopamine tour did I realize just how bad-ass this band is. I went to the show to listen to my “heart songs" and that’s when I discovered how relevant they have stayed after so many years.

I listened to more and more of their music and since then have been to 4 more shows. I’m completely hooked now. I was a prude and pretty ignorant to their newer music for so many years, only to discover a gold mine of the dopest lyrics. I now have many more heart songs and even full albums by 3eb. I’ll be forever jaded by this band and that’s why I decided to be a part of 3eblifestyle. I enjoy learning about this band very much. I look forward to putting my experiences, and new Third Eye Blind knowledge out there for others to absorb and enjoy.
