Home... On the Mountain. Just Brad Blog
I have been AWOL on the blogs recently as I have decompressing from tour. It takes at least a week to adjust down to a non touring pace. You get so used to constantly being on the move that the first few days at home is accompanied by a nagging feeling of having some place to be but you actually don't. It is strangely uncomfortable.
My buddy had a beach house for the week up by Santa Barbara so I actually faced my fears of cold water(and the under water creatures it attracts) and went surfing in California. I was relieved to realize that I can love surfing in cold water. In fact, the wetsuit means no board rash on the arms and thighs. Dare I say I prefer it?
People have been asking me about my "mountain party" comment in the drumchannel.com interview. It is actually just based on a joke that goes a little something like this.:
A man comes across a hillbilly(for lack of a better word) and strikes up a conversation. After a few minutes the hillbilly asks the man if he is interested in attending a "mountain party". The man says, "sounds interesting, what goes on at a mountain party?" The hillbilly says, "well, there is gonna be some drinkin', some dancin', maaaaybe a little fightin', and DEFinitely gonna be some fuckin'." The man says, "wow, that sounds kind of fun, um, what should I wear?"
And the hillbilly says, "it don't matter, it's just gonna be me and you."
I sort of live on a mountain, that is where the similarities end....
