Saturday With Stephan: Summer Gods EP
Stephan Jenkins is writing lyrics for Summer Gods EP.
A closer look at what die hard fans think the songs on Summer Gods EP will be about.
What do you think the songs on that album will be about?
Love and breakup. The songs should sound fearless. Get more riffs going on guitar rather than standard progressions.
This has the opportunity to be a very special/important album. So many of us that fell in love with 3eb years ago are now adults. I really liked the last 2 albums and I hope the trend he has going continues. It's like it's more mature, but still the 3EB I love. I love the political songs, and I think he can use those to his advantage right now. I would say probably not negative songs (as much as I LOVE those) but songs that are about hope for our future as a country (without being cheesy like most songs about that stuff tend to be). I know the EP is Summer Gods, but as adults our summers aren't semi charmed. We work, we have responsibilities. So it would be cool to have another album that grows along with us and tackles big issues, while still having that lighthearted excitement that we know and expect from Stephan.
SJ has always astonished me with his creative ideas for songs and the way his lyrics seemed to be written about me. Upon approaching his mid fifties, I think it would be fitting if some of the songs were about SJ, on how he has matured and endured with his twenty year tenur of lineup changes, things that inspire him, and how he can tell us his way of his ultimate success. I think some of the songs should be about the fans and how they have made a movement to keep 3EB alive now and forever. Lastly, about God and his faith. Brotherhood. That bond that we share and where in the summer is where we all come together to free ourselves and to be united as one.
Summer Gods lyrics should be about the same things that Stephan had always written about. Life and love and triumphs and defeats and the ability and desire to push through and live for better days to come.
I feel like there is no right or wrong answer for this. It doesn't matter what I want songs to be about, but instead it matters what's on his heart. That's what makes the songs
Music is healing and is a force that connects people. Growing into the person you are meant to be can suck but when you arrive and wake up in grateful life truly has meaning.
Wow that's hard; I never expect anything from his lyrics other than I know there will be lyrics that speak to my soul. With the current political climate I expect there may be some political lyrics. If you asked me this before We Are Drugs I never could have imagined Company of Strangers, Shipboard Cook and Queen of Daydreams - they immediately hit me in all the feels. I know I can't wait to hear what they bring.
Love, peace, and unity.
Hope and courage.
The darkest thoughts of his mind, the most vulnerable emotions of his heart, and the most powerful facts in his brain. Go Hard. Don't hold back and Check everybody. You got this.
